Meet the Mom - Dr. Ashley Paré - Palm Beach Moms

Name: Dr. Ashley Paré

Where did you grow up: Stuart, Florida

Town you live in now: Jupiter, FL

 Why you love living there:

As a native Floridian I wanted raise my kids near our friends and family. Jupiter was the perfect place as it offers a great school system, awesome family oriented activities and has proven to be a melting pot of interesting and kind people from all over. This coastal town has beautiful surroundings with a tight nit community feel, while encouraging a relaxed way of life. The outdoor living and fun is endless here, my family enjoys both the land & sea aspects of JUP LIFE, from being on the golf course in the morning to spending an afternoon on the beach or a boat, it’s the best of both worlds!

Tell me about your kids:

I am a blessed momma with two awesome kids. My son Remington (Remy) is 3 and my daughter Alexandra is 1 ½.

Remy started school this past August and is loving it! He is very social and inquisitive. Some of his favorite activities are outside play, puzzles, practicing his ABC’s and numbers. Remy also loves to explore the outdoors – we have a ranch outside of Jupiter and he loves wondering the property – it’s amazing to watch his imagination at work!

Alexandra is the true baby of our family; loving the spotlight and all the attention she can get. She’s a very affectionate kid with a sweet demeanor. Alexandra loves and cares for her two bunnies (stuffed animals) which she takes everywhere and anywhere we go! She recently got a play kitchen and has found her calling as a baby chef. Were all hoping she puts her skills to good use in our real kitchen one day ☺

Alexandra is interested in anything that Remy is doing. One of my favorite things to see is how close Remy and Alexandra are, for now they are each others favorite play mate. I’m so proud as their mom to see the beautifully close bond they have formed…I hope they never lose it!

Favorite things to do with the kids locally:

Both of my children are water babies; we frequent the Jupiter Sandbar on the weekends as a family. As I mentioned we have a family ranch in Martin County where we BBQ, roast smores, take jeep rides and explore the outdoors. Our evening “nature rides” with the kids allow us to disconnect to reconnect together. We spot deer, wild turkeys, a variety of birds, bunnies, and wild horses – the kids love it!

What’s your ‘day job’?  How did you get started with it?

General Dentist – I’ve always been interested in medicine because my family is full of physicians. Originally  I was interested in Dermatology as a pre-med student at UF. Eventually I began to explore other avenues of medicine where I could still have one-on-one patient relationships, work with my hands and express creativity both through my creative vision and through artistry (i.e. Cosmetic Dentistry.) After a decade of practicing dentistry, I recently opened my private practice, Seaside Dentistry. As we mark our first year in the books the rewards of General Dentistry have been more than I could’ve imagined. May if not most of my patients walk thru the door with either anxiety and fears of visiting a dental office and/or horror stories from previous dentists. Helping my patients to re-route their thinking and experience about dentistry as well as their overall health (which stems from our oral health) is beyond fulfilling. The before and after beautiful SMILES aren’t bad either ☺ Dentistry also allows me a nice balance of work, life and family. KEY!

What is your best parenting advice.  Lay it on us.

READ ‘Bringing up Bebe’ by: Pamela Druckerman who shares the secret behind “France’s well-behaved children.”

Loved all of the insight this great read had to offer, especially for the mom who wants to do it ALL. It helped me navigate being a great parent while also respecting my children as little humans. Druckerman stresses not losing yourself or your life to having everything revolve around your children. For me it has been all about finding balance and allowing my world and my children’s worlds to revolve around eachother and together. I believe the more we offer our kids a seat to ride along with the adult side of things the more confidence and trust we instill in them. I am also a BIG advocate of sitting down as a family every evening for dinner. Someone once told me “the days are long but the years move fast” which is so true. As a doctor no matter how busy or crazy my schedule can get, I always make sure to be home for dinner with my family. Take the time to make the time!

What do you do for self care?

Great question as this is always changing and challenging!

Does tequila count? LOL

On a serious note I try to set aside 15 minutes a day to meditate. Somedays this shifts from a quiet 15 mindful minutes of sitting with breathwork and sometimes I need those 15 minutes to just sweat it out with a quick workout. Recently I started treating myself to facials on a monthly basis.

Karaoke – what are you singing?

GREAT question. I went to dental school in Boston, MA and loved a local karaoke bar in Faneuil Hall. My go-to song – Age of Seventeen By: Stevie Nicks. A close second and worthy mention is Jolene by Dolly Parton. Both legendary female vocalists – me not so much!

Anything else you want to share?

Just that as a mom and a new small business owner I’m grateful for platforms like Palm Beach Moms to share and learn from each other. I started Seaside Dentistry with a lot of passion and hope! My goal is to build off of that and deliver great service to my patients in an industry that most people don’t find enjoyable.
