Meet the Mom - Katrina Aronson - Palm Beach Moms
Name:
Katrina Aronson
Where did you grow up:
I grew up in Miami, FL
Town you live in now:
Jupiter, FL
Why you love living there:
There is so much to love about being here!!
First and foremost, the beaches in the area stole our hearts.
I LOVE giving my kids the small beach town feel of Jupiter to grow up in, and yet we have quick access to “city life”. It feels so warm (the people AND the temp) and safe. We have the quaint neighborhood feeling, and in about 20 minutes we are in Downtown West Palm Beach, which offers so much. Miami is an hour and a half away. It is a really special mixture of experiences.
Tell me about your kids:
I have 2 kids, Zoe and Drew. They are so very different and yet they just make so much sense together.
Zoe (8) is such a creative, loving soul. She’s deeply sensitive, and yet so strong. She is the first one to run and get you a bandaid when you are hurt, or make me a coffee when I am extra tired. There is a magic to the way she loves because it is so thoughtful.
Zoe always wants to know more, and her imagination is ferocious. Stories stream out of her, and she she’s always singing. Her curiosity for all life around her is beautiful.
Drew (5) is adventurous, kind, and just generally collected. He’s a constant reminder to not take life too seriously, because well, he doesn’t.
There is a calm confidence that he carries with him everywhere he goes. Drew was born smiling and it brightens our whole house every single day. He isn’t afraid to challenge us, but he always follows up with a long hug. Oh, those hugs.
Favorite things to do with the kids locally:
We love to explore the area because there are just so many fun things to do, from arts to outdoors. The WPB green market on Saturday mornings is among our favorites. The kids love riding the trolley in WPB and stopping to get a hot cocoa at Subculture Coffee. On a nice night, The Breakers for dinner at the Italian Restaurant, followed by the playground (while I enjoy a glass of wine), is hard to beat…
We like to take the kids paddleboarding at Blueline Surf + Paddle, play tennis, eat dinner at The Burger Shack, and have picnics on the beach (the dog beach in Jupiter is our favorite). I could keep going…
What’s your ‘day job’?  How did you get started with it?
When I am not mom-ing, I am a marketing and business consultant for female entrepreneurs: Katrina Aronson Consulting.
I have been an entrepreneur myself for several years. I’ve owned a wholesale jewelry line and a brick and mortar boutique. I understand firsthand how running your own business can be both very rewarding and extremely overwhelming.
My consulting career began quite innocently as I helped a few friends with their businesses. Then some acquaintances. And, it began to snowball from there.
I work with creative women — some at the very beginning of their businesses, some farther along — to start, build, grow, and market their businesses on a realistic budget. We collaboratively work to create a step-by-step plan to address their needs within their business. It’s about getting her ducks in a row so her passion can be her main focus.
What is your best parenting advice. Lay it on us.
I think we are all just trying to be the best parents we can be, and what that looks like depends on your lens.
I know I am at my best with my kids when I am personally happy. Perhaps that seems obvious, but I didn’t really internalize that before I had kids. As moms, and parents, taking care of ourselves often takes a backseat to everything else in life. Really, it should be a priority because we are the foundation to our family. Take the time to do the things you love — whatever that may be — and feed your soul and the rest will thrive around you.
What do you do for self care?
I do take the time to do what I love. I NEED time with my girlfriends, near and far. I take the time to connect and stay connected to them. Sometimes that’s just a phone call and sometimes that is a trip together. This is a must for me so I make it part of my daily life.
I practice yoga, work out, and play tennis (I am a beginner, but I love it). I go to therapy once a week and let it all go.
I spend quality time with my husband weekly. We have been doing Saturday date nights since my oldest was 3 months old. We have busy lives, and it isn’t easy to communicate well during the week. It is a night I look forward to just being together and nurturing us.
Anything else you want to share?
A lot of what I do in my consulting business connects to my being a mom. Believing that I could do it all was a myth as a mom, and certainly as a business woman. Learning from other moms along the way has been my lifeline. I would not be half the mom I am today without them.
I feel the same way about business. Going at it alone is an option, but the growth that happens with someone who has got your back is often a far superior experience.
