Where did you grow up: I grew up right here in Delray Beach, FL.
Town you live in now: Delray Beach
Why you love living there: We have it all! We have a great downtown with tons of amazing restaurants and boutiques, fun beaches, endless outdoor activities for the family, and beautiful weather. It’s the best of both worlds- small beach town with all the big city luxuries.
Tell me about your kids: I am a proud mama to our daughter Veda (pronounced Vay-da). She is the light of our lives. She is 2 1/2 years old and just the sweetest little cuddle bug and mommas girl. I truly didn’t know what love was until I became a mother.
Favorite things to do with the kids locally: We love going to the beach and all the local parks. The children’s museum at the Boynton Beach library is a great outing. We’ve always had a wonderful experience at Barrel O’ Monkeys in Delray and of course the Palm Beach Zoo. The Delray Beach Children’s Garden is also a really great idea when it’s not too hot out as well as The Girls Strawberry U-pick in Delray. And our favorite treat after the pool on a summer afternoon is some homemade ice cream at Proper Ice cream.
What’s your ‘day job’? How did you get started with it?
I am a licensed esthetician as well as a licensed and certified cosmetic tattoo artist. Let me just say that I’m one of the lucky ones who absolutely loves their “job” and I am passionate about my career. As a young girl I loved art and beauty and as I got older I became interested in tattoos. Needless to say, permanent makeup and I are a match made in heaven. I work at Changing Faces Makeup, located in West Delray which has been in business for 21 years. The owner Rhonda Vacanti is a world renowned permanent makeup artist and at Changing Faces we are highly certified, licensed and extremely knowledgeable about our craft. We are constantly learning and attending conventions all over the country, as well as hosting our own advanced training classes for other artists. Skincare is another passion of ours and we offer the most cutting edge anti-aging treatments as well as medical grade skincare products.
What is your best parenting advise. Lay it on us.
Don’t take life too seriously. Play with your kids instead of doing the dishes or folding the laundry. The chores will eventually get done but we will never get these precious moments back. Also, don’t forget to tell your kids you love and adore them, they are important and that they and their feelings matter.
What do you do for self care? Working out!! I love working out! I’m much happier and less stressed when I exercise regularly. I feel good about myself and accomplished after a tough session at the gym. One of my favorite spots to get a good sweat on is at Slash Fitness in Delray.
