We are getting to know the nonprofits around town that are the heart and soul of our society. “It’s not just about being able to write a check. It’s being able to touch somebody’s life.” –Oprah Winfrey.

What is your mission?
Our mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
How and when did you get started?
Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Founded by a young college student in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to more than 150 cities in 25 countries and has helped more than one million women work towards self-sufficiency.
Dress for Success Palm Beaches is proud to serve the women of Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Hendry, and Northern Broward counties. Since opening our doors in April 2010, we have grown exponentially and have served nearly 4000 women as they work toward economic self-sufficiency.
Who do you help?
We assist women who are entering or re-entering the workforce. Most of the women come to us as referrals from other nonprofit agencies who are assisting them with challenges such as homelessness, poverty, mental or physical disabilities, domestic violence, and/or recovery from addiction.
Are there volunteer opportunities? Any where children can be helpful/involved?
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available for individuals as well as groups (Please see attached). Anyone interested in volunteering should contact our volunteer coordinator, Pat Stidham, at [email protected]. Our volunteers are required to be over the age of 18.
Are there any specific items that people can donate?
We accept donations of work-appropriate attire, purses, jewelry, and shoes which can be new or gently used. We also need bras, underwear and make-up, all of which must be brand new. Currently, our greatest need is for purses and shoes. All donations are accepted on Thursdays by appointment only to preserve the dignity of our clients.
