Meet the Mom - Caitlin Osborne - Palm Beach Moms

Name: Caitlin Osborne

Where did you grow up: Grosse Pointe, MI

Town you live in now:  Chagrin Falls, Ohio – but we spent a lot of time in Jupiter and North Palm visiting family.

Why you love living there:

It is a really sweet, quaint town that is reminiscent of something from the past. It’s a great community and has a lot to offer young families.

Tell me about your kids:

We have four children, Ellie (9), Charlotte (7), Caroline (5) and Bo (2). They are all their own little people and it’s so fun to watch them grow. Ellie is our sweet and sensitive daughter who loves sports. Charlotte is our tough firecracker, that loves fashion and adventure. Caroline is the comedian that loves lip gloss, barbies and her friends. And Bo is our little prince who brings us all endless joy, smiles and laughs. Each one is involved in Becco and adds a unique perspective.

Favorite things to do with the kids locally:

We are lucky enough to visit family in Palm Beach throughout the year and their favorite thing to do is ride their bike or scooters down the path!

What’s your ‘day job’?  How did you get started with it?

My day job was raising my kids until I had this ‘itch’ I couldn’t fulfill. Prior to having a family, I loved my career in marketing. It was really hard for me to walk away from it and I always knew I would have to have another focus again. After each one of our four children were born I had a new business idea. Some were better than others, ha! It wasn’t until our youngest, Bo, was 6 months though that I really got serious. At our daughter Charlottes 6th birthday party I organized a craft for the kids to decorate cosmetic cases with patches using velcro sticker dots. The Velcro sticker dots were all falling off and it was kind of a disaster. That night, I was up nursing Bo and was thinking about the failed execution. That’s when I had a lightbulb moment to make a bag out of the loop side (soft side) of Velcro. I became obsessed with the idea and started researching various fabrics that could work. I ended up finding one that is commonly used on braces and in medical applications because it was soft enough for an apparel piece but strong enough to securely hold a patch. I ordered a bolt of it and had several prototypes made. We were thrilled with our design, filed a patent in November 2021, and the rest is history! We have a line of backpacks, belt bags, duffle bags and a huge assortment of patches that are being sold online and in boutiques across the country. We are also about to launch in a national retailer and one abroad!  Stay tuned for new products and exciting partnerships.

What is your best parenting advice.  Lay it on us.

My best parenting advice would be to remember that nothing in parenthood is forever! Just when you start thinking you can’t take the multiple nightly wake ups or the terrible two tantrums or the pre-teen emotions, it will change! I try to take everything in stride, remember that this time is fleeting and I will really, really miss it ALL one day! Every stage is so cute and sweet for different reasons and I really try to find the fun in it all.

What do you do for self care?

Run, play tennis and sneak in girls nights when I can. There is always an excuse why not to! You have to make the things that make YOU happy just as much of a priority as all of your other commitments!

Karaoke – what are you singing?
